Alicante Museums
The several museums in Alicante are the bearers of the city’s past as well as present.
- The Provincial Archeological Museum: (MARQ)
The museum contains valuable relics dating back to Prehistoric times. The collection of over 81,000 pieces is divided through different rooms representing prehistory, Iberian culture, Roman Culture, Middle Ages and Modern Age. Lady of Guardamar from the Iberian settlement of Cabezo Lucero. Information about the archeological sites of Lucentum, Petrarcos and Illeta is also provided here and guided tours are available on request. New rooms were inaugurated in 2002.

- The Gravina Fine Arts Museum:
This museum is housed in the erstwhile Gravina Palace which has been converted for the purpose. The collection of the Alicante City Council features 500 pieces dating from the middle Ages up until 1920. The Museum also has an auditorium, a permanent exhibition lounge about the history of the building as well as a temporary exhibition lounge.

- The University of Alicante Museum:
This museum specializes exclusively in Contemporary Art aims to spread the knowledge and increase awareness about the historic and artistic heritage Activities such as research, production, conservation, documentation, diffusion and teaching of this art are also carried out in the university campus.

- The Alicante Hogueras Museum:
This museum owes its origin to the most important and popular festival “Hogueras de San Juan.” It has been recently opened and contains the wooden “ninots” or effigies which haven’t been burnt in the bonfires on the night of San Juan. Mock-ups of bonfires, a video room showing the best of this "fiesta", photographs, costumes and other such objects are on display here.
