The towns in the region of Alicante are equally interesting and important as tourist destinations. They share in with the history, traditions and culture of the land. With the increase in mass tourism, these towns are being developed to handle the tourists. All the towns have historic monuments, castles, and museums as a common trait. There are also splendid beaches as these towns are situated along the Costa Blanca.

  • Benidorm:

Blessed with an excellent climate, miles of fine golden sands and outstanding tourist facilities, Benidorm is a popular tourist destination. It has a historic quarter, as well as wide avenues lined with buildings, shops and terraces, all along the coastline. Some of the remarkable sights in the city include; Tossal De La Cala- remains of an ancient Iberian settlement, a temple in honour of the patron Saint- Iglesia de Sant Jaime. There is a little island of Benidorm which is reachable by boats. It is a haven for sea diving expeditions. There are famous beaches such as Levante, Poniente, and La Almadraba. The National Park of La Roja can be visited from the city.

  • Elche:

Elche is most famous for its palm tree grove, a World Heritage Site. On one end is the Town Park, the largest gardened area of the palm tree forest, which has a total of 200,000 specimens. The city has a 2000 thousand year old history. Although the region has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, Iberian and Roman artifacts are most common. The festivals of "Domingo de Ramos" (Palm Sunday) and the “Mystery of Elche” have been declared International Tourist Interest.  The “Festa d’Elx” (Festival of Elche) has been declared Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

There are several monuments and castles situated in the town. “Huerto del Curaor the priest’s garden has been declared a National Historic Garden National Monographic Museum and Archaeological Site at Alcudia. The Nature parks  of Las Salinas and El Hondo are nearby.

  • Torrevieja:

Torrevieja is a name well –known among the visitors to the region. The tourist town has beautiful beaches and is also famous for its salt production. The two huge salt mines are also declared as nature reserves; and a lot of the visitors that come to the Nature Reserve, do so to take mud baths at the designated mud-bathing areas, which are said to have healing properties.

  • Santa Pola:

A traditional fishing town which has preserved its old world charm in spite of the modern development.  Its coastline features white beaches and coves, and is a great place for scuba diving and windsurfing. Its ancient port is now a commercial port teeming with fishing and commercial boats. From here you can board a vessel for the island of   Tabarca, where there is a walled precinct and a diverse Marine Reserve. Also the nature reserves of De Las Salina and Santa Pola are nearby.
